Things that roll! A spontaneous inquiry that leads into shapes.

An inquiry into why things roll evolves in the block center. In this picture we can see two friends that have built a ramp and are using a cylinder to roll down and knock over a structure they have built at the end. Why does the cylinder roll?

Educators placed the cylinder on a flat block besides, and then on the floor and asked the children, “Will the cylinder roll and knock down the tower from here?” children: “No”
Educator: “why do you think that?”
Children: “Because it is not like a slide, if its not like a slide it will just stay there”
